Construction Superintendent – Residential Homebuilding

Position Overview:
Sedgewick Homes, a leading on-your-lot custom home builder, is seeking a dedicated and experienced Construction Superintendent to join our team. As the key field representative for our company, the Superintendent is responsible for organizing and coordinating the complex aspects of residential construction, directing subcontractors, managing materials, and ensuring projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget.
Key Responsibilities:
Pre-Construction:
- Conduct pre-lot inspections and lead pre-construction meetings
- Complete EPO reviews, prepare schedules, and develop job maps
- Review construction details from sales team to ensure alignment with customer expectations
During Construction:
- Coordinate and schedule subcontractors and material suppliers
- Ensure timely delivery of materials and arrival of crews
- Monitor construction activities to ensure safety, quality, and cost control
- Review and authorize vendor/subcontractor invoices and allowance items
- Maintain ongoing communication with customers to ensure satisfaction
- Conduct final walk-throughs and ensure homes are 100% complete at closing
- Lead homeowner orientation and provide a smooth handoff
Additional Responsibilities:
- Recruit, hire, and train subcontractors and support staff
- Establish and enforce safety protocols
- Serve as liaison between contractors, suppliers, and internal teams
- Maintain company equipment, including vehicles, hand tools, and power tools
- Provide feedback to management on cost-saving opportunities
- Assist with model home maintenance and site presentation
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Proven experience in residential construction
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and specifications
- Strong math, computer, and Microsoft Office skills
- Understanding of basic subcontractor methods and materials
- Strong organizational and project management skills
- Positive, professional demeanor with excellent communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
